PALAZZO VECCHIO: CIVIL WEDDING CEREMONIES

Palazzo Vecchio at Piazza della Signoria square where Civil Wedidngs take place

The building of the Palazzo della Signoria was begun on the 24th February 1299 according to a project by Arnolfo di Cambio to house the Gonfalonier of Justice and the Priors of the Arts, that is the Signoria of the City. It appears like a huge complexin pietra forte (strong stone) coming from the stone quarries of Boboli. The same quarries from which was extracted the material for the building of the monumental complex fo Palazzo Pitti.

The Palazzo Vecchio was also the residence of the Medici Family from 1540 to 1565 and became "old" when the family moved to Palazzo Pitti.

After the reunification of Italy when Florence became the capital of the Reign in 1860 up to 1865, many adjustment took place in the complex of Palazzo Vecchio. These transformations led to the creation of the Sala Rossa "The Red Hall" on the first floor of the Building. The bih square room is completely lined by red damask upholstery. Its threewide walls are decorated by tapestries representing the moment when Ahasuerus crowns Esther queen, after choosing her among all the "virgin and beautiful young ladies" gathered in the littl town of Susa. The king, standing on the platform covered by a rich carpet, puts the regal blindfold on the queen's head, who, in front of him, is standing on a lower step, wearing white garments. A big "Venetian" chandielier and a beautiful rococo mirror on a console table complete the pleasant Hall. The Sala Rossa (Red Hall) is currently used by the City Hall to celebrate civil weddings.

PALAZZO BORGHESE: WEDDING PARTY - SYMBOLIC WEDDINGS

The Gallery of Palazzo Borghese

The history of the actual Palazzo Borghese finds its origins in the second part of the 15th Century. At the end of 1700's marriage between Anna Maria Salviati and the Roman Prince Marcantonio IV Borghese gave the Palace to their son Camillo Borghese, whose noble coat of arms can still be admired on the main faŤade. In this place the Prince lived for a short time immediately after his marriage (1803) to Paolina Bonaparte (sister of Napoleon), who received an enthusiastic welcome from the city.

Palazzo Borghese is one of the most important example of Neoclassical architecture in Tuscany. Even if it still has an impressive faŤade, this place is often unnoticed, because of the street's narrowness. Once you have entered the Palazzo, its beauty and splendor are dazzling. The main stair brings You to floor where you will find the Sala Specchi (The Mirrors Room), the ancient bedroom of Paolina Bonaparte.

All the Monumental Halls are finley furnished, each one in a different color, Corner sofas stuffed with flowered satin and elegant golden wooden "consolles" perfectly fit with the painted vaults of the rooms.

This 2500 sq meters building is fully furnished and gives the possibility of making different kinds of offerings like: Rooms rentals for Symbolic Weddings, internal or external catering services, Gala Dinners, Lyrical Dinners, Renaissance Dinners, Lunchoeon to mark special occasions.
